Catholic Life & Reflection
I read a book recently called The Third Space by Dr Adam Fraser. He talks about the tiny moments you take in your daily life to centre, regroup or catch your breath. I see other people do this as they pass from one meeting to the next, being able to fully present to every person.
When I drive to school I come up along Clarrie Hermes Drive and I am often struck by the view of the mountains. It’s especially lovely on cold winter mornings as the sun hits the snow or the mist rises. I realised this morning that this is part of my third space. I look briefly to the hills as I shift from mummy mode to teacher mode. In that moment I feel the presence of God, it is literally only a few seconds. I let out a breath and feel centred.
I am not so great at finding my third space on the way home… but I am working on it.
