Catholic Life & Reflection
26 years ago I arrived at St John the Apostle for my very first practicum experience. I was so lucky because I ended up in Year One with Mrs Jenny Cunliffe. I was inspired by her dedication and enthusiasm. I wish phones with cameras had been around then but alas they had not been invented yet!! Her classroom was full to the brim of children’s work, music, books and more books. The children ate up every lesson and were full of joy and charm.
It was such a wonderful surprise to see Jenny through the crowd on Sunday. She came back to see the school where she spent 18 years of her career. I was able to thank her, and others, for the influence they had on me as a young teacher.
Each person I spoke to expressed love and pride for our school. They were astounded at the physical changes but still felt at home. Everyone was able to sing the school song!
Thank you to all who helped make the day possible. May Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved…forever!
God bless,
