I read somewhere that if you are waking up in the night maybe God is asking you to pray for someone. He must want me to pray a lot at the moment! Never the less, in the early hours when all is quiet I do try to pray.
I admit, I am not great at it, my mind wanders and I have to call myself back to pray. Even at mass it can be hard to really focus. But I keep trying. I am trying to be more conscious throughout the day of small moments when I can be present to God’s glory. Sometimes the moments are very small, other times I get to pause and really connect.
I came across this quote from St Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)
“Reflect that God is there among the pots and pans and that he stands at your side in your interior and exterior duties”.
I love this, so very true. We might not be on our knees with our hands clasped together but it doesn’t ‘mean we can’t offer our daily actions in prayer.
