Religious Education

This week we have seen a celebration of some of the wonderful work that is being done at Catholic schools around the Archdiocese at the ACT Student Citizenship Awards.  These awards were attended by Her Excellency Governor-General Ms. Sam Mostyn AC, who spoke about the importance of young people being involved in civic life.

It is fantastic to see students from a wide range of Catholic Schools being recognised for their charitable work and other contributions to civic life. This is not only a critical way of living out our Gospel values and Jesus’ commandment to love one another, but it is a wonderful chance for young people to experience the joy of serving others.

Service can at times be very difficult, but it is also a rewarding experience, a chance to help out our community, and those who have less than we do. Our school has already made a meaningful contribution this term in support of the St Vincent de Paul Society, and we are looking forward to raising funds later in the term for Global School Partners, who support schools in Kenya.

I would like to congratulate all those who were involved with the ACT Student Citizenship Awards, and encourage our whole school community to always look for opportunities to serve others, in whatever means are available to us!

You can read more about the Awards in the Catholic Voice.

Help Us To Be There

Holy, life-giving Spirit,
Infuse in us your ability to remain present to your people.
Help us to be there,
to be right there,
for the people who need us.
There for young people,
there for the elderly,
there for the brokenhearted;
fire our hearts with your life-changing presence.
Even though we know you to be everywhere
and in everything,
give us the ability to be fully in one place at a time,
open and ready to love.

Amen

I hope that you and your family have a blessed weekend!

Kind regards,
