Catholic Life & Reflection
Last night at the Parish Pastoral Council we were talking about how people contribute to the life of the Parish as a way of expressing their faith.
Expressing faith is an interesting concept. How do people do that? At St John the Apostle Parish about 700 - 800 people per week celebrate the Eucharist. Many do other acts of service that are incredibly important to the community and to their own personal expression of faith.
Yesterday a small act reminded me how important those everyday expressions are. A teacher worked out that I was about to do my second duty for the day. It doesn’t sound like a lot that he offered to split it with me but it meant a lot. He was acting out of compassion and understanding.
Jesus was the same. When he saw a need he did something about it. I can’t tell you how many times that happens in our school day. Child to child, teacher to teacher, parent to teacher and all the other combinations that are possible.
When I see these things happen I realise how much good work we are doing to embed the radical compassion of Jesus in the life of all of our children, staff and families.
I am sure you do these things in your daily life too.
Together “We are on earth the heart of God.”
‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family,[a] you did it to me.’
God bless,
