Principal's Corner
Dear St John the Apostle community,
It's lovely to be back and among the staff, students and families at school. I had a wonderful time on my Holy Land Pilgrimage as a group of 37, many of whom were Principals. I'm looking forward to sharing my journey and stories with students at school, bringing to life some of the places and events that they have often heard about through bible stories.
Thank you also to Belinda Clifford and Kellie Bradbury who organised the Mothers Day gifts that were ordered by families and sent home in your child's school bag today. There were over 240 gifts made by Belinda and Kellie for families.
Happy Mothers Day
Thank you to the Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two teachers for organising the Mother's Day Breakfast this morning. It was so lovely to see many of our mums enjoying a hot drink, pastries and fruit with their families. It was also lovely to see some of our grandmothers as well. I hope every one of our mothers, or those who enjoy a similar role, have a lovely celebration this weekend.
Have you enrolled for Kindergarten or Year 7?
We are in the midst of the 2024 Catholic Schools Enrolment Period and there are two more weeks until all Kindergarten and Year 7 enrolments for 2024 must be submitted. Our Year 6 Peer Leaders and School Captains hosted visiting families on Tuesday evening prior to our information night. We had an fantastic turn out and lots of interest in our school.
We still have the following opportunities for existing and prospective families:
- School Tours - Thursday 18 May, 4 - 5pm
- 1 to 1 tours with Mr Matthew Garton (Principal) - by appointment 22 to 26 May
If you know any families interested in enrolling their child at St John the Apostle please refer them to our website for how to enrol. If you have a child who is due to start in Kindergarten in 2024 we are currently accepting enrolments.
Please remember too that enrolments for Year 7 at SFX need to be submitted by Friday 26 May. Year 6 students are not automatically enrolled at SFX for Year 7.
A Playground Update
Yesterday many of our students enjoyed the new paths and gathering spaces in our recently landscaped playground area. There is a new basketball hoop for our younger students and fencing for the junior soccer area. There are also new raised decks beneath the trees in our eating areas and students are enjoying sitting on these to eat or playing on these mini-stages during recess and lunch.
This morning, prior to school starting, the sun was streaming through the trees and I couldn't help but take some photos to share.
Canteen
Some of our wonderful Year 6 students have started to open up the canteen on Tuesdays and Fridays at recess and lunch. They have a small menu that includes Jumpys, Harvest Snaps, Cheese and Biscuits, Quelch Bars and Fruit Filled Bars. The prices of the items vary from $1 to $2.50.
It's lovely to be back though I am looking forward to catching up on a little sleep this weekend. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
