What the students are learning about

It has been a busy week at St John the Apostle!

Year 6 Confirmation

Confirmation Retreat Day was run by our wonderful Youth Minister Lachlan Bull on Thursday. Year 6 enjoyed the day and 15 of them went to the church to celebrate their Confirmation last night. The second group will be at the church tonight.

All students partipcated in the preparation for the Sacrement. They have done so in a respectful and reverent way that has produced some deep questions and excellent discussions.

Kindergarten Liturgy of the Word

I happened to be in the corridor as the Kindergarten students were walking up to the chapel see Father Michael. They were very reverant and excited!

Father Michael was impressed with their enthusiastic singing and dancing!!!

Being part of a liturgy is so important for children to begin to understand the rituals and rhythms of the church.

Well done to Kindergarten for a great start!

In his Homily last night, Father Kimi, reminded us that the disciples were ordinary people. Just like us, they needed the Holy Spirit to do God’s work. 

We are all so loved by God that he sent the Holy Spirit to help us navigate our lives with courage, right judgement and wisdom. We don’t have to have all the answers, we just have to have faith in God.

It reminded me of one of my favourite quotes from the roguish St Augustine.
