Andrew Fuller

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, I had the privilege of participating and engaging in a Leadership Program run by Catholic Education. One of the highlights of this program was listening to Andrew Fuller discuss learning strengths. Andrew fuller is a clinical psychologist who works with many schools and communities in Australia and internationally, specialising in the wellbeing of young people and their families. He has written many books to help parents and teachers understand students’ strengths, mental health and behaviours. Some of these books are:

  • Unlocking your Child's Genius
  • Brain Based Learning
  • Tricky Teens
  • Beating Bullies
  • Tricky Kids
  • Tricky Behaviours
  • Raising real people: Creating a resilient family
  • From surviving to thriving: Promoting mental health in young peoples

Learning Strengths

Andrew Fuller's work on learning strengths is all about understanding the brain and the neurochemistry of successful learning. He brings his research and findings of over twenty years of working with young people.

Everyone's brain processes information differently, it is as unique to an individual as their fingerprint. Andrew describes the learning strengths as follows:

Fuller has created a free and very quick online survey for students and parents to discover what their learning strengths are. I highly recommend getting your children to complete the online survey as it supports them to truly understand what and how they can connect their unique set of strengths and use that knowledge to increase academic self-efficacy and success. Furthermore, he provides factsheets on the following:

  • Implementing learning strengths for parents
  • Learning strengths and anxiety
  • Learning strengths and gifted students
  • Learning strengths and increasing motivation
  • Learning strengths and overcoming procrastination
  • Learning strengths and students with attention issues
  • Learning strengths and defiant kids

The survey and above factsheets and be found at the following link:

Cross Country

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who helped make the Cross Country a success. We will be handing out ribbons for the top 3 students of each age group on Friday, 7th May at morning assembly. The top 5 students from each age group will participate in the Belconnen Region Cross Country Carnival. This will take place on Wednesday the 26th May. We will be handing out notes in the next couple of weeks for the Belconnen Region Cross Country Carnival.
