Catholic Life & Reflection
The week before school started I was sitting in the library looking out the window. I always like a view outside during long days of professional learning (I listen I promise!).
Our theme this year is 'God in all things'. This is a quote from the 2015 encyclical from Pope Francis, Laudato Si “Care of our Common Home.” Being a Jesuit, God in all things, is central to his faith.
This year we will explore this statement firstly through our work in Sustainability lessons. Secondly, each grade level will have a focus plant from the seven sacred species identified by Moses in
Deuteronomy 8:7-9
For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.
- Figs – Kinder
- Olives – Year 1
- Grapes – Year 2
- Wheat – Year 3
- Pomegranates – Year 4
- Dates – Year 5
- Barley – Year 6
It will be a journey of discovery about sustainability, our role in creation and a deeper understanding of Jesus in the scriptures. God bless,
