What are the students learning about?

Kinder Nativity is well under way! I can hear their voices carrying up the corridor as they rehearse. There are bags of costumes on their table and an occasional angel flies past the front office window.  What a joy it is to know that the age-old story of the birth of Christ is being retold by our youngest students. 

Year 6 have been exploring the Jesse Tree and its symbols and the way the story of Jesus is told from Creation to His birth. Year 1 have been opening an Advent calendar every day and exploring the scripture that is contained within.

There is lots of preparation happening!

What staff are learning about

In our final faith formation staff meeting we reflected on the journey of 2020. Quite unexpected of course from where we started which required the following reminder.

The end of the school year is an odd time for REC’s. I am closing this year but planning for the next. I must maintain my energy and enthusiasm for the now and for the future.  I am buzzing with excitement for our 2021 plans and tinged with sadness at having to farewell an amazing class of students. It can be, at times, overwhelming. 

I am blessed to have the support of a close friend who is happy to let me sit in their presence and sort my thoughts out. It has brought me a great deal of peace. 

At this time of the year when Advent is ticking away, peace is a continued focus.  It doesn’t just have to been one week of Advent. I pray that this time of the year you find a little time to just be in the presence of someone who brings you that peace. Jesus, is a good choice and will meet you wherever you are at.
