Dear St John the Apostle families,

“It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start” (Mother Teresa)

In the same way it is easy to celebrate our strengths as a community on joyful occasions, it is harder to do so when things are challenging. A community that works together and values unity does so all the time. We celebrate our preparedness, communication and teamwork.  We celebrate our love, compassion and forgiveness.  We do all of these things because we are and ask all of our community ‘to be on earth the heart of God’. That is no easy feat, but we aspire to it. We grow, fail and try again and do the best we can to show the love of God in all we do. As Mother Teresa said “bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start”. We must demonstrate in our community, that in all things, love is where we start.

At St John’s the safety of our children is always at the forefront of our minds and I can assure you that the school is working closely with Catholic Education to put in place supports for all students to manage safety. If parents have specific concerns about their child’s wellbeing please contact me and I will arrange access to counselling through CatholicCare.
