Dear St John the Apostle families,Happy Father's Day 2020: History, significance and celebrations - more lifestyle - Hindustan Times

Happy Father's Day to the many fathers in our community who share their love and guiding presence with their children as they grow into beautiful young people.

The love of our parents is the first and most formative relationship we experience in our lives. For children, parents are the reference point for understanding the love that God has for us. When we ask them to think about how much God loves them they think about the love they experience from their parents to help them understand.

Thank you to all of the fathers in our community, for the ways you help children see and know the kindness, gentleness and care that God has for them. Thank you for the interest you take in their schooling, showing them the value you place in their learning and education.

Staffing News

I would like to congratulate Ms Bree Dess on her appointment as the permanent school Coordinator for St John the Apostle Primary School from 2021.

We are fortunate to have a very talented and committed staff team. We're looking forward to Bree's contribution in supporting students, families and staff as we continue to live out our school's mission 'to be on earth the heart of God'.

Bookweek

Due to the restrictions in place recently, the Children's Book Council have moved the dates for celebrating Book Week to 17-23 October. This is the second week of next term. We'll send home more information about how we will be celebrating closer to the date. You can still expect to have a version of a dress up day!

Term 4 events

As Term 4 draws near we are very aware of important events that we love to hold and likely to be impacted by health restrictions. These include the End of Year Concert and the Year 6 Graduation.

Staff are currently discussing alternative ways of celebrating these important events should we still be impacted by limitations placed on us around gathering together. Information about these will be shared early next term.

On leave

Just a reminder that for the next three weeks of Term 3 I will be on leave. During my absence Rebekah Brown will be Acting Principal, Stephanie Stewart will be Acting Assistant Principal, Alison Ewyk will be Acting REC and Bree Dess will continue as Coordinator. This will mean a few small changes to the teaching arrangements for 3 Blue and 6 Maroon for those three weeks. I will write to these classes directly to inform them of the details.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
